Job Description and Requirements
SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS
Ideally possess a bachelor’s degree in institutions’ management, hospitality services,
foods and nutrition, business administration or other related field
A minimum of four year’s experience in the hotel or hospitality industry
Ideally have some start up experience
Ideally have worked within a luxury 5* hotel
Possess strong communication skills both verbal and written
Be able to communicate effectively with clients, senior management and support staff
Demonstrate outstanding leadership
Be able to respond effectively to changing demands
JOB TITLE: General Manager
LOCATION: Accra, Ghana
REPORT TO: Owners
START DATE: 1st May 2010 for soft launch. Official opening date 1st July 2010
JOB OBJECTIVE
To oversee all aspects of the hotel operations including guest relations, front desk, housekeeping, catering, security, maintenance, finances and staff development. To delegate responsibilities, organize complex projects, and establish priorities consistent with the hotel objectives. The ability to manage in a diverse environment with focus on client and customer services, entrepreneurship and building and growing a strong business is essential to success in this role.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To provide overall leadership, guidance and direction to the hotel management team
Strive to provide the highest quality in standards and services
Addressing problems and troubleshooting
Efficient operation and cost control of all hotel departments and facilities
Be aware of the hotel’s position compared to local competition and ensure that plans are developed to maintain and/or improve that position to maximize hotel sales
Represent the hotel in a positive and productive manner with guests, colleagues and the local community
Ensure proper maintenance of the hotel’s physical facilities resulting in employee and guest safety
Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
